Our Approach
Authentic Vedic astrology, calculated with precision and presented with clarity.
Why We Built VedaSight
Vedic astrology — Jyotish — is one of the oldest systems of astronomical observation and interpretation in the world. For thousands of years, it has guided people through life's questions: career paths, relationships, timing of important decisions, and understanding of self.
Yet finding accurate, authentic Vedic astrology online is difficult. Most sites use Western calculations with Vedic labels, or offer generic content that applies to everyone born under a sign. We built VedaSight to change that.
VedaSight serves the Indian diaspora and anyone curious about Jyotish — people who want to understand the system their ancestors used, calculated correctly and explained clearly. No mysticism for its own sake. No generic horoscopes. Just the chart you were born with, interpreted through the lens of tradition.
Our Calculation Methods
The accuracy of a birth chart depends entirely on the calculations behind it. We use the Swiss Ephemeris, the same astronomical engine trusted by NASA for planetary position data. This gives us precision to within 0.1 arcseconds — far more accurate than traditional tables.
For the sidereal correction (the adjustment that makes Vedic astrology different from Western), we use the Lahiri Ayanamsa. This is the official standard adopted by the Indian government and used by most professional Vedic astrologers. It accounts for the approximately 24-degree difference between the tropical and sidereal zodiacs.
We use the Whole Sign house system, also called the Rashi system. In this traditional Vedic method, each sign occupies exactly one house. This is how classical texts like Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra were written, and it produces cleaner, more consistent interpretations than modern Western house systems.
All charts are displayed in the North Indian format — the diamond-shaped diagram familiar to anyone who has seen a traditional kundli.
Our Sources
Our interpretations draw from classical Vedic texts, primarily the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, the foundational text of Parashari astrology. We also reference traditional nakshatra descriptions and planetary significations that have been refined over centuries of practice.
For timing predictions, we use the Vimshottari Dasha system — the most widely used planetary period system in Vedic astrology. This system divides life into chapters ruled by different planets, based on the Moon's nakshatra at birth.
While we use AI to generate personalized interpretations, the underlying framework is always grounded in traditional principles. The AI helps us apply classical concepts to your specific chart combinations, but it does not invent new astrology.
Our Commitment
We prioritize accuracy over gimmicks. Every chart on VedaSight is calculated from first principles using the same methods a professional astrologer would use. We do not cut corners or simplify for the sake of entertainment.
We aim to provide meaningful insights, not generic horoscopes. Your reading is based on your actual chart — your specific planetary positions, houses, and timing cycles. Two people with the same Sun sign will get very different readings if their Moon, Ascendant, and other placements differ.
We respect the tradition. Jyotish is not just an interesting curiosity — it is a living practice that has guided billions of people over millennia. We approach it with the seriousness it deserves, while making it accessible to modern seekers.
