The Drift Called Ayanamsha

Earth's axis does not stand perfectly still. It wobbles in a slow circle, completing one full rotation roughly every 26,000 years. This wobble, known as the precession of the equinoxes, causes the March equinox to drift backward through the constellations at approximately one degree every 72 years. A person whose Western chart shows the Sun at 5 degrees of Aries would find that Sun placed at roughly 11 degrees of Pisces in a Vedic chart.
